Anti-war crazies makin' life hard for soldiers... Again!

Saw this this morning morning in the news.

A member of the military walks into a military recruitment center in Peterborough, England, Friday March 7, 2008. Commanders of a nearby British air base have advised personnel not to wear their uniforms in the town because of verbal abuse from opponents of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Ministry of Defense confirmed Friday that personnel at the Wittering air base, 90 miles (145 kilometers) north of London, have been advised to wear civilian clothes when they are in the cathedral city of Peterborough. Ain't it a shame, and doesn't it remind you again of Vietnam. My folks heard the same thing when we lived in England during that war. Dad was told not to wear his uniform to London for fear of what some "peace loving" protester might do to him.

I tell ya, I would have loved to have seen some bastard try to give him shit back then. Growin' up with three brothers, including an older bro who was an even bigger asshole than my dad, taught him a thing or two. We couldn't be "Ugly Americans" though, so he wore civvies whenever we went to town.

I hate to think of that same sort of crap goin' on now, but I think some of the anti-war folks have finally snapped. Their gutless leaders have told them for years that they were gonna end the war and they haven't, so now some bastard is blowin' stuff up in New York, and who knows what else will happen.

They need to get their asses kicked.

Great shot of your dad...it's a shame we have to leave all our dignity behind as we grow old. Almost makes you want to wear a photo of your youth around your neck, or start a blog, to remind people we used to be somebody!

I dito wat mushy said. Many a time while over my 21 years in the USAF at various locations around the world we were told not to wear our uniforms at times for our own safety. It's a shame though isn't it.

Don't know if it's "official" yet, but the Marines were considering this idea in OUR OWN country, about two or three months' ago. They could only be in uniform while off-base during what they called, "exceptions for approved events."

I know I still see Army personnel, especially reservists, wearing their BDU's in public. I guess they'll be next.

After all, we don't want to OFFEND those of differing opinions, do we?

Soon we'll all have to wear sheets and black body bags so that we don't offend any one. How sad.

Mushy - Dude, you're far from a has been. get serious.

Old Soldier - very true. They probably worry in Britain about all the "Muslim citizens" who might pop a cap in a recruiter.

Sarge - Damn. That's amazing. In a city that lives off the military.

Bruno - Thing about living in an Army town like this, any asshole will get their ass kicked so quick, they'd never dare.

Lin - True. People think they have a right not to be offended. I can't find that in the bill anywhere.
