Another busy weekend passed by.

Took dad to eat Chinese Friday night, as per usual. I really look for ward to that dinner every week. The Shrimp Fried Rice and General Tso's chicken served there are to die for. We filled up, and then I took dad home. I visited with mom for a while, watched a little TV with her, and then went back to Killeen to get an advance ticket to the late movie at the local multiplex.

Went to see "Casino Royal" at the 10pm showing. I've been waiting to see that movie for a while, wanting to see what they would do with the franchise, and I have to say I loved the result. Safe to say that most people go to Bond flicks for the babes and the boom boom. Ok, there's the cool cars and the gadgets too. They are all there in this version, and the style is there too. Bond is still cool as hell. You want to be him in so many ways. And this new guy (Daniel Craig) can do the job very well. Loved him in "Munich", but don't remember seeing him in anything else. The love interest (Eva Green, late of "Kings of Heaven") reminds me of someone else. Look in those eyes and see if you don't remember Dayle Haddon, a hot little number who made a few movies and a few pictorials in Playboy back in the late 70s and early 80s. Anyway, This is the best Bond flick in years. I even love to see Judi Dench reprise her role as "M". She really does a great job with the character. A womans feel to the touching scene in the end (I'll never tell). The villain in this piece is the best in years and years. Mads Mikkelesen plays it cool, with the weeping eye scar, till the torture scene. I think he's got a real future ahead of him in the movie biz. Check it out.

Slept in Saturday, which felt great to do. Laid around and worked on this friggin' thing to finish up an online class I'm teaching (muh!). Threw some clothes on around 2pm and drove east to Belton to walk through a gun show that was being held at the expo center there. The show was mediocre. They usually are there. Fondled a few nice toys, but as I said in the update to the previous post, I'll never be a pistol guy. Mom called while I was walking through the show and told me she was putting ribs in the oven and they'd be ready in an hour if I was interested. So you can guess where I went for dinner. Did a few chores on the back yard, sawing a few limbs off a tree for her to earn my keep. She made BBQ spare ribs and taters and peas for dinner, and later when we were all craving sweets, I drove to the local Dairy Queen and picked up three small Heath candy Blizzards. A while later I drove home and still later fell into bed and snoozed.

Got up at 9:30am Sunday morning to shower and get ready for a trip. At about 11am, a friend and his wife and kids drove over, and we all headed South to Austin to visit the Bob Bullock State History Museum. My buddy needed to go there to fulfill a school requirement (write a paper about it), and I'd never been there, so we planned a trip. It was a very nice time. The museum is very well laid out and has some nice stuff on display. I think the Panhandle Plains Museum in Canyon is a better museum of the states history (much more stuff on display), but this was a very nice time. They have a few very cool films that show over and over so you can walk up and sit down and view them at your pleasure. They tell the story of all the various groups of people who have made up the history of the state. Later we went to Papasito's (yep, that's two Sundays in a row), and then we drove home.

The upcoming week is going to be blissfully short at work, and an excellent opportunity to pig out again will be had at Moms on Thanksgiving. She called today to tell me that she has picked up a turkey and a ham to go with the dressing for Thursdays feast. I'll have to go in Monday and Tuesday to the early classes, and Monday through Wednesday in the Ft. Hood classes. I may give the Wednesday night classes the night off, since many won't show up anyway. It's hard to be a asshole and have class even though half the other instructors have told their people to go home. We'll see.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING my friend!

The girls are doing their traditional after Thanksgiving shopping and us guys are headed for Gander Mountain, Best Buy, Dick's (we all love dicks), and then Bailey's to take advantage of our mug club memberships! Should be a good holiday.

I think you should give them the night off on Wed.

I've heard nothing but good things about Casino Royale and look forward to it. I just couldn't drag myself out much this weekend and enjoyed vegging and Netflix instead.

Mushy- Gander Mtn. is a huge load of fun. Our local version of that is Cabela's. I'll be consuming mass quantities Wednesday at moms, and then going to Dallas Saturday to walk through another gun show. Maybe my gun smith will have a new toy for me. Sunday is Moms 78th birthday, so we'll be taking her somewhere and celebrating. You have a good time with the lads.

Becky- Yea, I know the feeling. It's got to be a pretty cool flick to get me off the couch and out to the multiplex these days and plunk down $12 for ticket and snacks. Makes me want to try to show up in drag so I could sneak in my own popcorn and coke in a huge purse. You could see that happenin', can't ya? Scary.
