Check out what some soldier is drivin' onto the base these days. It's got stickers and everything. Hilarious.
And a buddy sent this. You gear heads out there will love it.
And I guess this is the future for the logging industry. Freaky eh?

Ok, some cool gear. Dig it.

The second one looks like some kind of insect.
It handles those trees like they are toothpicks.
I used to see cars like the one in the pick all the time in the 70's
Some were just a volkswagon drive train put on a tubular frame.
I bet it's fun to drive.
Ahh, dune buggies. Used to see them on the streets of Houston a lot in the 70's as hammer said.
And there ain't gonna be no piney woods left in East Texas with those things on the prowl, huh?
wow, I am amazed by this, I have worked at a sawmill and with pulp wood, why back when, compare this to a cross cut saw, wow
Watching these leaves me a little sad, even though it's clearing a pine forest, easily replanted, it still illustrates how consumptive humans are.
About 10 miles from here is a business that is booming locally selling and building homes with metal 2X4s and other appropriate sized lengths. Seems so much better than cutting down a whole forest daily.
No, I'm not a tree hugger, just a lover of the outdoors.
That guy running the 1270D did work that would have taken about ten lumberjacks to accomplish in a full DAY in the way-back. And in only five minutes. Wow. Impressive.
Yeah, I'm kinda with Mushy on this one---it takes all the "romance" out of forestry! But, mechanically---it's fuckin' NEAT!
And that "thing" in the last frame? I hate to say it, but I laughed my ass off! It kinda reminds me of MYSELF, tryin' to get outta bed and to the can, before I piss in my pants!
I'd LOVE to see what kinda mess it'd make of itself, if only ONE little circuit goes POOF...!
complicated thank you - to say the least.
Hammer - Yep, like a bug, so it can walk in and take only certain trees, supposedly. And a dune buggy. Too cool.
Myron - I used to see them more back in the 70s too.
Sarge - Yep, ain't technology a trip?
Mushy - Yep, I hear you bro. I think they want to be able to go into the woods and only take certain trees, to thin out the cover, rather than strippin' the forrest. But there are places like the area you live in that should be left the hell alone. So long as there are tree farms in Oklahoma ans Arkansas, I think they should leave the rest alone.
Buck - very impressive. If they can walk in and only take the dead and dyin' trees, and cut down on the brush that causes these wild fires, that'd be cool too.
Bruno - Yep, I figured you'd love the gear, but you're right about it. My dad used to say the same thing about power windows and stuff in a car. Just more shit to break down.
Doggy - No prob.
But...but...I wanna hear somebody yell, "TIMBERRRRRR!"
Damn. Three seconds or so to bzzzzzzzz down a tree (you can't quite call it chopping down, now can you?), that's impressive and scary.
Imagine what it could do to a human being...
That's not necessarily just a dune buggy - except that I can see the telltale VW cooling shroud and the front axle and kingpins are all too familiar.
A proper sand-rail built by Chenoweth in the Unlimited class is an insane ride and appropriate for a desert soldier. Some are mounted with weapons and are serving in the current conflict as fast-attack desert patrol vehicles.
Check out/rent the movie "Dust to Glory" about the Baja 1000 race and see some amazing performances.
