I'm rememberin' the day...

is all I wanted to say. I'm off to class. There's a drive to get everyone to show their flags and their headlights today in remembrance. The least we can do. I will. Up to you. Remember the day in your own way, and stay safe. Cheers.

Oh, and I found this bumper sticker down at the high school in Florence a while back. Love the sentiment. Loved my time boating with the Navy in the early '90s. I'd do it again in a heart beat. One of the kids in the first senior class I taught down there just finished nuke school and has been assigned a sub. Name is Rosales. Great kid. Smart as hell. Could have gone anywhere, but he chose to enlist. His sister is now a senior on my class. Says he loves it. He'll go far. Proud of him, and all the others who serve. And to hell with all the assholes who think it's only the poor or stupid who serve. Fuck them up the ass! I see these kids every day on base. Proud as hell of all of them. Remember the day, and those who serve.

After 9/11 our country really seemed to pull together. We, for the first time in a long time, were feeling like a really unified country. We all felt the same way.
On the radio this morning they were saying how nice everyone seemed to be to each other the next day. Why can't we all be like that everyday?
I agree with you about being proud of everyone who serves, no matter what their reason. Let's not forget the other heroes of this country, in AND out of uniform!
I hope your day goes well. I know you are probably enjoying the weather as much as I am, seeing that it's raining outside. Enjoy it while it lasts! (Which, hopefully, will be through the night!)

Well said... heroes, in and out of uniform. And I'm LOVIN' this cool weather. A norther blowin' 68 as I drove to the base today.

I bet. I hope it lasts, a reprieve from this heat is what we all needed. I think the weather today, gloomy and all, is fitting.

I like the sentiment of the bumper sticker, and the picture a lot. Go Navy!
I really hate the Leftoids who clamor for the insane conspiracy, that it was an inside job - it sickens me and they sicken me - they're broken in their cognitive function, they are screw-loose.

"Fuck them up the arse??" Tee-hee, wish I'd had a teacher like you (smile)!

EVERYONE wishes they'd had a guy like me as a teacher. You should hear them in Govt. class when we talk about obscenity laws and I bust out with the "F" bomb a few times (purely within the scope of the lecture topic, I assure you). Wakes 'em right up, I wanna tell ya.

I will never forget, I will never waiver, I will never quit. I tried to re-up, they would not take a 100% disabled vet, that sucks...

You tried to re-up? Wow, that's a man, fer sure. yep, it's a hard love sometimes, but it's a deep and abiding love that never waivers. My dad was %100, and about a 4 on the golf course.

Well said on the quality of those who serve the country.

Yep, I am proud of them also. Military life is tough at best and during these times of deployment after deployment is is even tougher and sometimes tougher on the family left behind than the ones deployed. My hat is off to both the brave men and women who are doing the fighting and their loved ones at home who have to cope without them.

Hear, hear, FHB.

That bumper sticker is SO awesome!

Lin - Thanks. One can't help but feel it, living here and remembering.

Guyk - Exactly. I see it every day, with folks going out for their third time, and their families left here to cope.

Kevin - Thanks man. Proud to call you one of us.

Phlemmy - Yes it is. I love it. I can get you one if you want one.

Thanks everyone.

Good on the kid going to the boats. Hope he makes it through qualifications. I don't know how many drop out along the way or get thrown out now but waaaaay back in the fifties it wasn't a huge number. In fact, I don't remember anyone not making it during my 3 1/2 years.

There's a problem with that bumper sticker. Great message but there ain't nothin' but targets on it he he.
